I would be tempted to credit Penny Serenade for starting my love of Cary Grant (Archibald Leach ;) ), but I didn't even know that was him until later. Your review was very good :)valarina_paleminahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17728925683209373998noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2675393718702467550.post-2128112448561241872013-03-18T05:46:38.454-07:002013-03-18T05:46:38.454-07:00This is yet another film I have never seen, but it...This is yet another film I have never seen, but it sounds fabulous. These may be some of the greatest lines ever written for a film:

Roger humbly acknowledges, "I don't blame you, Julie. I don't blame you at all. You should leave me. Why don't you say it honey? It's all true. I haven't done any one of the big things I planned to do for you. We're right where we started. We're still struggling. I've let you down all around, honey. Well, all I needed to make it 100% was for you to leave me. And I can't think of a reason in the world for you not to. I'm licked, Julie." Julie candidly responds, "You're not licked, Roger. It's just us. We're licked as far as our being together is concerned. When something really came along to hit us hard enough, we couldn't face it together. I needed you an awful lot these last few days. But you've been miles away. I've been entirely alone right here in this room with you."

Did the writers win an Academy Award for this script?

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2675393718702467550.post-53760882959170415842013-03-17T18:04:49.400-07:002013-03-17T18:04:49.400-07:00Great review and overview to a neglected chapter i...Great review and overview to a neglected chapter in the career of cary Grant. This film and "None But the Lonely Heart" with Ethel Barrymore show just how "exposed" Grant was willing to go to challenge popular impressions of his persona with a meaty role.
